The National Football League (NFL) wants to increase the number of live games included in its NFT ticket stub initiative in the 2022 season to as many as 100.
Attendees of a few live games received commemorative NFTs as part of an experimental rollout last season. The NFT virtual commemorative ticket project will be introduced in partnership with events ticketing giant Ticketmaster, just like it was last season, according to a league announcement.
The programme is set up so that during the course of the season, all teams will use the system for at least three home games.
No of how many tickets were purchased, the NFL only provided one NFT per Ticketmaster account that purchased tickets for an eligible game. But this time, each individual ticket may be exchanged for any NFT.
The NFL All Day video collectibles catalogue was introduced on the same platform as the NFT tickets for this season, Flow. But prior to the league and Ticketmaster switching to Flow, NFT ticket stubs from last season were initially printed on Polygon.
Last season, the league saw tremendous support for the project, and now that the league has fully switched to a mobile ticketing system, the NFT stubs assist in filling the void left by collectable souvenirs.
On a Ticketmaster marketplace, holders of virtual ticket stubs can resell their NFTs. According to Desai, the league decided to expand the effort this year to almost five times the number of eligible season games, with more NFTs being awarded for each game due to the high demand seen during the trial season last year.
The Shanghai Municipal People’s Government has developed a complex framework for deploying virtual assets, NFT, and blockchain technology. The Shanghai government wants to encourage NFTs and other assets while helping major businesses investigate building NFT trading platforms.
